Bunkers tickled pink…

July 26th, 2011

Bunkers is tickled pink about Tony Love’s fantastic review of the Bunkers Windmills RosĂ© 2010!

‘A glossy, darker crimson-coloured style here. There’s a delightful rose and turkish delight-like fragrance to begin before you crunch into a mouthful of red berry and currant flavours. Brightness and zing are the main focus in the winemaking. Refreshment is the game and there’s something almost spring-seasonal about the wine in its fruit and aroma profile.’

Winsor Dobbin’s Wine of the Week!

June 15th, 2011

Bunkers Windmills RosĂ© 2010 has been named Winsor Dobbin’s Wine of the Week ! Winsor gave the Bunkers RosĂ© an awesome review calling it ‘Delicate and Dangerously Drinkable!’ – see full review below….

‘If you are looking for a wine that will bring back that summer feeling, you won’t do much better than this bright, breezy and affordable rosĂ© from the funky Bunkers stable in Margaret River, where wines are named after local surf breaks. Delicate and dangerously drinkable, if this were a pop band it would be Beach Boys – think great harmonies, sweet, high notes and unexpected complexity. Made from shiraz grapes, it’s alive with fresh red cherry and ripe strawberry characters, along with hints of Asian spices. It’s one for enjoying young and well chilled with Mediterranean or Middle Eastern dishes. And you can’t argue about the price.

Bunkers in Scoop!

May 16th, 2011

The Box Tempranillo 2009 has been awarded a sliver medal in the Scoop Magazine Autumn Tasting! The Box has been described as ‘Light-bodied and easy drinking, this is the perfect wine to match with warm chorizo and olives. Lifted vanilla, bright red fruits and a touch of menthol flow seamlessly through this great example of West Australian Tempranillo. True to varietal form, expect high levels of grippy tannins and crisp acidity’

The Box was also awarded the top ’Best Bargains’ award of the Autmn tasting up against hundreds of other wines!

THE BOX GOES GOLD!

January 31st, 2011

Bunkers The Box Tempranillo 2009 has been awarded a GOLD MEDAL at the Lavan Legal Margaret River Wine Show
we are quite chuffed about that!

Pip Heaford from the Margaret River Wine Industry Association said “Overall the independent panel of judges awarded 423 medals from 774 entries, an almost unheard of medal strike rate of 55% with a staggering 52 Gold, 93 Silver and 278 Bronze.  2010 results were 14% higher than 2009.”

Everyone went Bonkers for Bunkers at PFF!

September 24th, 2010

This years Perth Fashion Festival has now wrapped for 2010 and what a festival it was.

Jam packed with 40+ events, 70+ designers, there is no doubt that PFF2010 was bigger, better and more fabulous than ever before! Over 10,000 people attended PFF2010 events and enjoyed Bunkers wines while celebrating the amazing talent of the WA fashion industry.

The converted Gasworks building called ‘Fashion Paramount’ that was home to 10 runway shows was so unique and completely cosmopolitan. The white catwalk, beautiful clusters of bauble chandeliers and huge AV screens made the old gasworks building at 347 Wellington Street come to life.

The Bunkers surfboard wine bottle display was definitely a fashionable accessory in the VIP Loft bar, where guests enjoyed Bunkers wines before the runway shows. The Loft Bar was created out of a wonderful ‘warehouse’ style space adorned with art by Stormie Mills and decorated with rows and rows of Bunkers wines. The plasma screens featured a Bunkers Wines produced ‘Images of a Margaret River Summer’ video which were a bright splash of colour in the dimly lit Loft Bar.

Fashion Bar, the official after party ‘hot spot’ was equally impressive with the bartenders looking very stylish in their Bunkers tees designed by Perth based designer, Gavin Fielding from Mixing Cultures. Bunkers bottles were displayed on illuminated shelves which made the converted car park glow, oozing a raw, edgy elegance. There were many fashionistas at Fashion Bar parading their bottle of Bunkers as the hottest fashion accessory to come from PFF 2010.

National and international celebrities including Russell James, Ashley Roberts from the Pussycat Dolls, Leah Wood and Melanie Greensmith were all spotted enjoying Bunkers wines. The Bunkers “Guillotines” Shiraz was Melanie Greensmith’s drink of choice as she partied at the VIP room at Fashion Bar after the Wheels and Dollbaby parade. Festival director, Tony Sage was spotted enjoying the Bunkers “Windmills” Rose’ at Loft Bar. Local Perth personalities including Premier Colin Barnett and wife Lyn, ABC newsreader Karina Carvalho and social glamour queen Margarita Hughes all also enjoyed Bunkers wines.

It seems everyone is going Bonkers for Bunkers with new venues including The Garden, Gold Bar and Universal Bar all jumping onboard the Bunkers juggernaut. Watch this space
big things are happening for Bunkers Wines and we are so excited about what comes next.
